To Hong Kongers,
Statement in response to result of appeal for 831 demonstration
Our planned demonstration for tomorrow, the fifth anniversary of 8.31. decision that blocked our way to democracy, has been objected by the police, and the appeal unanimously ruled unsuccessful today by the appeal board. Therefore, we are unable to call and will not be calling for a demonstration tomorrow. We sincerely apologise for this.
Our demonstrations and assemblies have always been peaceful, rational and legal. Meanwhile, Civil Human Rights Front is determined to fully utilise the existing mechanism to make sure our right to organise events legally. Yesterday, after we received the objection letter by the police, we have immediately invited the best legal team, with best preparation, to fight for the right to peaceful demonstration and assembly of Hong Kongers.
While we are unable to call for a lawful action tomorrow for all to air their voices, we will continue to stand with Hong Kogers and provide legal support for arrested persons. We hereby apologise again to all who are hoping to take to the streets tomorrow without risking legal consequences.
Hong Kongers, keep it up. Please, please, please stay safe.
